Waterloo Manor Hospital is a specialist hospital dedicated to supporting women with complex mental health needs, particularly personality disorders. The team at provide compassionate, person-centred, and evidence-based care for individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions including personality disorders, mental illness, and secondary conditions such as challenging behaviour, substance misuse, learning disabilities, disordered eating and dissociative identity disorder.

 

Individuals are supported by a highly experienced Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), which includes Consultant Psychiatrists, Doctors, Nurses, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Social Worker. Approaches include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Schema Therapy, with a strong focus on trauma-informed care. Occupational Therapists help develop practical coping strategies through meaningful daily activities and vocational support, alongside a social worker who co-ordinates family involvement, legal matters, and discharge planning to ensure continuity of care within the community.

Specialist Women’s Service

Waterloo Manor is a specialist service for women with personality disorders, providing comprehensive assessment and treatment for those with personality disorders, mental illness and co-occurring conditions.

 

Care is delivered by a highly experienced multidisciplinary team (MDT), including Consultant Psychiatrists, Doctors, Nurses, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and a Social Worker. Evidence-based therapies, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Schema Therapy, are delivered within a trauma-informed model of care. Occupational Therapists support individuals to develop practical coping strategies, independent living skills and vocational aspirations through meaningful activity, while the Social Worker coordinates family involvement, legal matters and discharge planning to promote a smooth transition back into the community.

Care Pathway and Services

Low Secure (17 beds), specialist assessment and treatment for women with complex personality disorders.

 

Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) (8 beds), for those who require short term intensive clinical input and stabilisation with step-down options available when clinically required.

 

Level 2 Rehabilitation Units (8 beds) a high dependency rehabilitation service

 

Level 2 Rehabilitation Units (14 beds) structured rehabilitation services promoting independence, skill-building and community reintegration.
